Tom Gilliatt
Tom has worked in some of the most senior publishing roles in Australia, first at Pan Macmillan, where he was non-fiction publisher and later director of non-fiction publishing, and then at Allen & Unwin, where he was publishing director for nine years, before becoming a literary agent in 2022.
As a publisher, some of his authors included Les Carlyon, Corporal Mark Donaldson VC, Graham Freudenberg, Gerald Stone, Cameron Forbes, Molly Meldrum, General Sir Peter Cosgrove AK CVO MC, Adele Ferguson, Mary Moody, Schapelle Corby, Kathryn Bonella, Rusty Young, Dr Catherine Hamlin, Adam Gilchrist, Ben Cousins, Nick Riewoldt, Chris Judd, Bart Cummings, Richard de Crespigny, Matthew Spencer and Jack Beaumont.
As an agent, Tom’s lucky enough to work with a list of best-selling, critically acclaimed and award-winning authors ranging from the brilliant crime fiction of Laura McCluskey (The Wolf Tree) and Tanya Scott (Stillwater), to Sam Guthrie’s extraordinary international thriller (The Peak), to the narrative non-fiction of Sally Gould (Frog) and the multi-award winning First Nations’ history of Darren Rix and Craig Cormick (Warra Warra Wai). He loves reading and representing books that bring a fresh, innovative approach to well-known genres and important subjects.
Tom is passionate about using both his editorial experience and industry knowledge to champion his authors’ work and to help them find significant publishing and media rights deals in Australia and overseas.
